Offset 2017
A festival identity for one year only.
About the project
Offset’s identity changes every year, so the brief was never “design a logo”, it was “design a system that can hand itself a new one annually”. For 2017 that meant a full identity built to last exactly one conference: tickets, stage graphics, signage and a title sequence that opened every talk.
Opportunity
An identity that only needs to survive one conference can afford to take risks a permanent brand never could, as long as it still does the basic job: get people to the right talk, in the right room, on time.
Process
We built a simple graphic system that could stretch from a ticket to a stage backdrop, then used it to open every talk with a short title sequence, so even a packed programme felt like one event rather than sixty separate ones.
Outcome
An identity that lived hard for one weekend and did its job everywhere it needed to: on badges, on stages, and on screen between talks.
